Samsung Galaxy S23 series will only use Qualcomm chipset: Ming-Chi Kuo

Samsung Galaxy S23 is said to use only Qualcomm Snapdragon processor worldwide. This number compares to the Galaxy S22, which only 70% uses Snapdragon processors. The report also adds that there is little chance that the Galaxy S23 adopts the Exynos 2300 as it cannot compete with the SM8550. A previous report indicated that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will use the same 10-megapixel resolution for the telephoto camera as the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. The phone is also said to have advanced battery technology in a recent report.

According to a recent a bunch of tweets by TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm is expected to be the sole processor supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S23. Again, this figure compared to the Galaxy S22, only 70% using Snapdragon processor. Qualcomm SM8550’s flagship 5G chip manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process is capable of powering the Galaxy S23. Kuo also added that Samsung’s flagship smartphone may not adopt the Samsung-made Exynos 2300 chipset on the 4nm process. The Snapdragon SM8550 is said to be optimized for TSMC’s design principles, giving it an edge over the SM8450 and SM8475 in terms of computing power and power efficiency.

An earlier report has shown that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will use the same 10-megapixel resolution for the telephoto camera as the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+. It will likely be 3x, like this year, and in fact it most likely has the exact same setup including the same sensor. This was only rumored specifically for now, according to the report.

Samsung’s flagship phone is also said to have advanced battery technology in a recent report. According to a tip, Samsung is planning to use a stacking method aimed at producing electric vehicle (EV) batteries for its rumored Galaxy S23 lineup. Samsung SDI is said to have used this method to manufacture its EV Gen 5 batteries. The South Korean tech giant is expected to replace the ‘jelly roll’ method being used today with a stacking method for its smartphone batteries. Furthermore, the reporter has suggested that adopting this method could lead to a significant increase in the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 series compared to the Galaxy S22 series.
