WBC lightweight final between Ryan Garcia and Isaac Cruz looks tough

Garcia, who returned to activity last month beat Emmanuel Tagoecalled for a fight between himself and the ‘Pitbull’ and finally got his wish when just over a week ago the WBC ordered the match to take place.
‘KingRy’ is promoted by Golden Boy Promotion and Fightnews spoke with their president Eric Gomez about the situation.
“We did everything we could to make this fight. We also petitioned the WBC to conduct an immediate wallet tender and it was denied. We’re very clear now that Isaac’s team doesn’t want the fight.” Garcia herself expressed her feelings on Twitter.
“I will come and advertise at the Staples Center, July 16 while you guys use someone as a pawn.
“His stupid manager Sean Gibbons has done nothing but disrespect me and lie to me on other occasions.
“What I say is not necessarily about Cruz but sometimes one needs to face reality! His management team who was or was part of the Manny Pacquiao team instantly cost me a Gervonta [Davis] fighting in the past by lying to me straight about that Manny fight. And now it’s bullshit again.”
In February 2021, Garcia announced to the world that he would face the Philippine icon in a contest or sanctioned exhibition. A month later, it was revealed that the event would not continue ‘due to some problems’. Gibbons has worked as a consultant for Pacquiao and as president of his advertising agency.
