Good news, RSS readers. The way you read RPS articles is about to get a whole lot easier. In addition to our main feed, you can now customize your RSS feed by subscribing to individual channels to receive exactly the type of articles you want in a concentrated dose of RPS. Read on below to see how it works.
Technically, this is not New development like that, but we’ve also never made it on the web anywhere before. Instead, pass on this helpful bit of RPS knowledge to a handful of proficient readers over the past few months, either through comments or RPS. Discord, for which you have our undying thanks. Happily, we’re coding it now so everyone can join in on the goodness of RSS. Customizable RSS feed is one of the most requested in your favorite list of features in recent reader survey we did, along with a customizable homepage. We’re still looking into the possibility of the latter, but in the meantime, I hope these customizable RSS feeds help with your RPS reading in the future.
This is partly because one of the other things most requested in the survey was returning to the Latest page as the default RPS homepage. Alas, I’m sorry to say that’s not going to happen. Like me explanation for supporters last week a lot of care and thought was put into creating the new homepage when we redesigned the site in early January and i think it best represents what is happening on RPS better ever. .
Like Graham said at that time, our guiding principle during the redesign was “to make it easier for you to find the work you want from us”, and the new homepage does this at random. That top spotlight is made by myself, Alice Bee and Alice0, and we all take great pride in putting our latest and greatest features, news, and reviews there to help you. Get access to good content as quickly as possible. If you miss the Latest format, it’s still here. Instead, put that in your bookmarks. That’s why we keep it.
Of course, I will keep you updated on how we continue with any other homepage developments as well as when I receive them. Our tech team is working hard to move our friends at Eurogamer into the same system as us, VG247 and Dicebreaker at the moment, so any major changes are unlikely to happen. until sometime next year, but we’ll let you know here (and on our News RSS feed) as soon as anything is confirmed.
