Rory Skinner tops the official Silverstone Trial opening day

Rory Skinner beat his rivals at his British Superbike Championship Bennetts on the opening day of the Official R&G Competition at Silverstone, setting the benchmark for FS-3 Racing Kawasaki as defending champion Tarran Mackenzie was lost. type.

The top 22 riders were covered by a staggering 0.949s at the end of the day and Skinner sped up in the final session to keep the lead. Bradley Ray is closing the gap on his Scottish rival as he continues to make strong progress since the Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha team changed manufacturers over the winter.

Ray was just 0.069 seconds away from Skinner as the final session of the day neared its final five minutes, but a high-speed bump to Mackenzie brought red flags. The McAMS Yamaha rider is suspected of breaking his left ankle and was taken to the hospital for further examination.

Dan Linfoot had a positive start in the two-day test with the iForce BMW team, reaching third fastest time, but just 0.001 seconds behind Tommy Bridewell on Oxford Products Racing Ducati with Kyle Ryde finishing the top five.

Josh Owens had an impressive opening day as he finished sixth overall for Rapid CDH Racing Kawasaki, edging out Danny Buchan and Leon Haslam, who completed the top eight.

Ryan Vickers also crashed in the final but ended day 9 of FHO Racing BMW with Josh Brookes making the top 10 of MCE Ducati. His teammate Tom Sykes also crashed in final practice, finishing the day in 18th place.

Jason O’Halloran meanwhile ranks 12th on the overall timesheet, behind Peter Hickman.

Joe Francis was the team’s best performer on stage, coming in first on 55.196, ahead of Lewis Rollo’s 55,181, with just 0.022 seconds separating the duo.

Alex Olsen is just 0.102 seconds behind the lead, with Aussie Billy McConnell also competing closely, putting up a fastest time of 55.310, a slow 0.151.

Rounding out the top 10 are Charlie Nesbitt, David Allingham, Australian Brayden Elliott, Tom Ward, Davey Todd and Richard Kerr, with less than a second of the top 15 speed difference.

Levi Day posted the fastest time of 56,867, down 1,708 seconds from the fastest time, while New Zealand’s Damon Rees hit 57,988.

The Junior Suposystem, GP2 and Ducati Tri-Cup have all come together, with Max Cook being the top racer overall, followed by GP2 riders Cameron Fraser and Dan Brooks. The first place winner of the Ducati Tri-Cup is David Shoubridge, followed closely by Tom Tunstall.

Australia’s Seth Crump was 10th overall, taking the lead of 59.101 or 1,248 seconds, with New Zealand’s Zak Fuller in 11th place, with +1,285.

Jacob Hatch ended the day in 26th place, at 1:00.471.
