Ronnie Wilson, founding member of The Gap Band, dead at 73

“Ronnie Wilson was a genius with creating, producing, and enjoying the flugelhorn, Trumpet, keyboards, and singing music, from childhood to his early seventies. He might be really missed!!!”

Wilson shaped The Hole Band within the late Nineteen Sixties alongside along with his brothers Charlie and Robert, in line with the band’s web site.

The group was initially named The Greenwood Archer Pine Road Band, after three streets in a Black space of their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was focused by a White mob in the course of the 1921 Tulsa race bloodbath.

They later abbreviated the title to The G.A.P. Band and at last The Hole Band.

The group rose to fame within the late Nineteen Seventies and early Nineteen Eighties, opening for bands equivalent to The Rolling Stones.

Their best-known songs embody “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” “Social gathering Prepare” and “Burn Rubber on Me.”

One other well-known track, “Excellent,” has been sampled by greater than 150 artists, in line with the band’s web site.
