Roczen King of Bercy | Matt Moss Prince of Paris
Transcendental Paris 2022
Ken Roczen was crowned King Bercy 2022 over the weekend, winning the last SX1 event from Eli Tomac to cement his place in the history books with Yarrive Konsky’s Fire Power Honda team.
Roczen had the upper hand over Tomac and teammate Braytona, who were round on the podium overall, but it was a close fight between Roczen and Tomac
For Roczen, the event got off to a great start as he dominated the ‘Super Extreme’ section at the beginning of the show. Roczen came to life in the second sprint, after finishing third in the first, as he overtook the race leader and sprinted to victory in his CRF450R.
Roczen then brought that pace into the main event – advancing from fifth in the first round to second at the finish line. A 2-1-2 scoreline from the first night put him second overall, just two points behind leader Eli Tomac.
Ken Roczen – P1
“What a way to end my first weekend at Paris Supercross! I’ve been using my CRF450R since the beginning of the week and it feels great, even if the track breaks down at the end. Thank you to all the fans who came here this weekend!
Justin Brayton – P3
“I want to keep coming back to Paris! I love it here. Tonight’s track is really challenging and it’s a world class course, so I’m very excited to be on the podium. Thanks to everyone in my corner who helped me up the box!
Justin Brayton finished second in the first sprint and achieved the same result in the second, but a knock in turn lost his momentum. Brayton reclaimed seventh place in it and then took fourth in the main event, after advancing from sixth in round one, leaving him third on Sunday.
By comparison, Sunday was a clean sweep for Roczen, the German leading 1-1-1 against Tomac 3-2-2.
There was even more excitement for the SX2 Aussies team, as Matt Moss was crowned Prince of Bercy, winning three times en route to overall victory, leaving Jace Owen and teammate Chris Blose to complete. award-winning podium.
It was a slower start to the weekend for Moss, with Chris Blose dominating on Saturday. Things turned around on Sunday, however, when Moss led 3-3-3, where Blose collected no points in the final.
Matt Moss
“This feeling is why I race you can’t beat it. That’s great, but I just wanted to specifically mention Bayden Blanchette, without you I wouldn’t be where I am. So I’m forever grateful that you trusted me in the first place, you’ve had two years of putting up with me, but thank you, there needs to be more people like you in our sport. So this one is for you, I love all you did for me.
Jace Owen was consistent, but not consistent enough to win, runner-up.
The lengthy event also saw a stellar performance, with 40,000 fans gathering at the La Defense Arena in Paris for the event’s 39th run on Sunday alone.
