The Runway F/W 22 Stacked with trends, some tame and others a bit more shocking. Of those of the second category, perhaps the most controversial is the broader range, knee length boots that seems to be on every runway from Bottega Veneta and Chanel to ACNE Studios and Y/Project. Similar in shape to beachgoers—yes, those extra-high boots you wear when you go fishing—this season’s OTK boots are a far cry from the styles we’ve seen in the past, which makes We’re not even surprised. Rihanna was the first celebrity to wear them. After all, the founder of Fenty has never been one to make clear choices, especially when it comes to fashion.
Last weekend, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky was seen in New York City, where the new mom debuted a pair of thigh-high boots, like Y/Project’s Even Newer S/S 23 Collection. Along with them, she added an R13 denim mini skirt, a vintage RZA t-shirt, and a vintage snakeskin Tom Ford Gucci bag, as well as Rick Owens Briony Raymond jewelry and sunglasses. The look, almost always true to whatever Rihanna wears, is as cool as ever. Boots? A sign that pedestrians have officially stepped off the runway and into the real world.
