Here’s what the lawsuit says happened:
The lawsuit is not aimed primarily at Dixon, but rather that he was negligent in defending Williams. It also has Coppin State University, University of Maryland System, Lucien Brownlee, athletic director Derek Carter and the state of Maryland. Williams filed a lawsuit last week, according to Baltimore Brew–who broke the story.
Although the blackmailer claims to be a third party, Williams actually believes Brownlee is behind it all. The contact with the catfish began during Williams’ first semester in the fall of 2018. Towards the end, the catfish farmer became the blackmailer. They allegedly asked Williams to agree to any request or risk his private chats and photos being exposed.
“For fear of losing his place in the basketball program, tuition and room fees, and board payments that Coppin State University had promised, Plaintiff continued to respond to the person who texted him in a day-to-day effort. even more futile to appease one’s tormentor,” the lawsuit states.
At the end of the spring semester of 2019, Lucien Brownlee told Williams that the blackmailer also had a picture of him. At the time, Brownlee was a senior who would return to staff the following semester, according to Baltimore Brew.
After that conversation, Williams began receiving requests to perform sexual acts with Brownlee, but the athlete initially refused. In the fall semester, threats increased again. The blackmailer, knowing Brownlee was available, requested a video of Williams and Brownlee having oral sex.
“Faced with the risk of exposure and loss of his position in the basketball program and its financial support and at the insistence and urging of Coach Brownlee, Plaintiff consented,” the lawsuit states. clear.
In early December, the blackmailer warned Williams that Brownlee would arrange a sexual encounter between them. Williams ignored the request. As the days passed, there were more requests for porn videos, and the blackmailer rejected a solo video Williams sent. The blackmailer claims Williams had sex with Brownlee – throughout March 2020.
How did Juan Dixon get involved?
In an attempt to distance himself from the blackmailer, Williams revealed another allegation to his family. He shares his discomfort with “Uncontrolled illegal drug use and inappropriate behavior by members of the basketball program” in away matches. In response, his father held a meeting with head coach Dixon to discuss the drug problem.
Williams offered a transfer, but the suit said that Dixon was “adamant that [Williams] should stay with the program “despite” its inability to tackle the drug problem in any meaningful way. “
When Williams returned to school in the fall of 2020, the blackmail began again. When Williams failed to heed the requests, Brownlee allegedly released these images to staff, the team and the public in November 2020. How did the university respond to Williams’ disclosure?
Williams took her story to the university after Dixon allegedly failed to take any action against Brownlee. But the lawsuit alleges Coppin State caused additional emotional distress by neglecting to treat him as a victim of sexual assault. Instead, the lawsuit claims, he was questioned about his past sexual experiences and orientation.
The lawsuit accuses the university and its coaching staff of being negligent with the way they “Hired, supervised, and controlled people with positions of authority in the basketball program.” Additionally, it shows the university retaliated against him by ending his housing and tuition assistance when Williams revealed his sexual assault.
Williams is seeking joint or separate damages from the defendants, including Dixon.
No word yet from the head coach, who is also widely known from Real housewives of the Potomac with his wife Robyn Dixon.
The university told Baltimore Brew they do not discuss pending litigation.
