Review of one of the most terrible lenses ever made
Generally, the longest focal length lenses available are the 800mm f/5.6 options, with the exception of rare or discontinued examples. And even as a prime lens, such a lens is huge. So you can imagine how massive things would be if you wanted to make a zoom lens that could reach 800mm with an aperture of f/5.6, but that’s just what the lens is called. is this “Sigmonster” can do.
Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this interesting video review will look at the Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG APO HSM lens. Affectionately known as “Sigmonster”, this lens has certainly earned its moniker, spanning over 21 inches (54 cm) and weighing a clunky 12.94 lbs (5.87 kg). Of course, all that bulk makes it difficult to carry around, meaning this is the best lens to use where you’ll be camping for at least a few hours, but if you’re willing to bear , you’re rewarded with a uniquely capable lens that offers some impressive versatility. Its image quality may not be up to the demands of modern sensors, but it’s still a pretty neat lens. Watch the video above to see how it works.
