Return warm and wet. Plus, why does cold temperatures vary so much.
My new podcast is out (see details below) and I cover two important topics: the radical change in our weather that will happen this weekend, and the dramatic change in weather. local temperature on cold nights.
Look for traffic above (500 hPa, about 18,000 ft ASL) this morning and into Monday night. This morning, the ridge is directly over the coast – a situation involving sinking air and sunny skies.
But by Monday night, the ridge had moved inland and the Northwest was flowing in a southwesterly direction off the Pacific Ocean. A large trough offshore. This is a warm/wet sample.
The total rainfall until 4pm Monday is impressive (see below), with locations in the mountains over 5 inches high!
My podcast provides more details about the forecast. And my podcast also describes and explains the large local variation of low temperatures on cold mornings, such as on Wednesdays.
