“They didn’t want her back because she kept escaping,” Chapin, a trainer at Shelter Me, explained to The Dodo. The family’s inability to deal with Zuzu’s distressing behavior led them to find a new pet, one they believed would be less of a challenge. It was a heartbreaking revelation for the shelter staff and for Zuzu, who had clearly hoped for a different outcome.
