Although Canelo Alvarez has enjoyed his time off recently, the Mexican superstar is preparing to make a choice for his next ring appearance.

As first reported by ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Alvarez is considering several offers. First, the weight star is said to have been offered a one-match deal by PBC’s Al Haymon against current WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo. Soon after, promoter Eddie Hearn beat Alvarez. If accepted, Alvarez will find himself up against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and current IBF middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin.

In addition to those offers, former two-time super middleweight champion David Benavidez also expressed his desire to face Alvarez.

While it’s not clear who Alvarez will choose in the end, Regis Prograis believes he knows who will put the Mexican product to his toughest test.

“Listen, Canelo is the worst man on the planet right now but I think of the others, I think Mall had the best chance,” Prograis said in an interview with FightHype.com.

At 31, Alvarez is having a historic 2021 season. After consecutive wins over Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant, Alvarez has successfully lifted both the 168-pound WBO and IBF championship titles. As a result, Alvarez became the first undisputed super-middleweight champion of all time.

Although his status among the greatest boxers in the world has been cemented, Houston’s Charlo remains confident in his ability to knock him off his high horse. The current 160-pound WBC titleholder made his final appearance in the ring on June 19, 2021, facing tough and sure-footed Juan Macias Montiel.

With the completion of his fourth middleweight defense, Charlo has repeatedly stated that if given the chance to face Alvarez, he would recklessly gain weight and face him on his own territory.

If Charlo gets the call, Prograis, a former £140 player, will be delighted by the news. Although he admits that Alvarez has faced top opponents during his career with the Hall of Fame, Prograis doubts Charlo will quickly become one of his tougher foes .

“Mall is strong, like he is strong as a mother fuck, hit hard and things like that. I definitely think he has the style to beat someone like Canelo. I think he will probably be one of Canelo’s strongest opponents that he’s fought over the past few years. ”
