Metaverse discourse is back, and now Reggie is joining it.

Former COO and Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aimé, thinks the metaverse – a network of 3D worlds whose ultimate aim is to replace or enhance real-life socialization – is the future of gaming and even maybe just the future in general, based on a recent interview he gave to Yahoo! Finance.

“I believe this vision is something we’re all aiming for. I believe it’s going to be led by game companies and I believe – if delivered in an interesting way, that’s compelling. – it’s an experience people will want to have.”

When asked what the metaverse is and how it could change the world, here’s how Reggie describes it:

“[The metaverse is] an immersive and interactive space, one that has the potential to be modified, but still enduring. Imagine walking in the sand and seeing other footprints – that’s an example of how you can modify an environment but it’s very persistent. You have seen what others have done. “

Interestingly, Fils-Aimé specifically cites Elden Ring is a game that is currently “dominating the popular conversation” and hailing FromSoftware as “an example of a company that stays true to what they are.”

Right at the start of the interview, Reggie offers his advice to other companies – “Focus on your North Star,” he says, “and ignore it. Despite all the challenges. supply chain consciousness, despite inflationary pressures, despite all the noise.”
