Mercedes created some powerful unusual concepts for Maybach luxury brand. Exelero test high speed car and the ultimate luxury SUV sedan come to think. But Project Maybach, designed in collaboration with late fashion designer Virgil Abloh, is possibly the wildest of all, being an all-electric all-terrain coupe.
It’s not just a two-door off-road coupe. It is in fact a two-door off-road coupe almost 20 meters long. And it has very traditional proportions and lines, with a huge front end and a slightly less imposing rear end. It’s squared, but in a more elegant, mid-century luxury car rather than say, a Hummer. And of course, it has a large chrome grille and highly decorated taillights, complete with the Maybach logo.
And yet, this classic coupe sits high off the ground. It rolls on small, steel-style wheels with thick tires. It even has skid plates, flares on the fenders, rock rails and a roll cage with basket on the roof. It’s all painted with a matte brown finish that makes it look like a desert-ready expedition vehicle.
It is even said to be practical for exploratory work. The spartan interior features brown leather seats that recline completely flat for sleeping. Is one tram With long uninhabited areas, plus that roof basket, it can have a lot of cargo space. On the hood are solar panels that could provide a bit of range, but should at least be useful for recovering some power for the accessories. The interior seems to have more storage boxes and tools are stowed in special compartments around the cabin.
As for actual performance and range, well, Mercedes has nothing concrete. That’s not entirely surprising, as this seems to be just a design exercise. Therefore, don’t expect to see a production model anytime soon. Then again, off-road luxury car Definitely popular.
