Newsweek: Prince Charles mocked for advocating ‘crazy’ climate change masks for cows

Reality check:Physics PhD Dr Tom Sheahen: ‘Methane: An unrelated greenhouse gas’ – ‘Water vapor absorbed the very infrared radiation that Methane could have absorbed’– ‘The small increase in methane associated with cows may elicit some giggles, but it is by no means the basis for sane regulation or national policy.’

Sounds like a belated April Fool’s joke: On May 24, 2022, the online portal Agrarheute reports that British startup ZELP (Zero Emissions Livestock Project) has developed masks for cows. However, in this case, not to protect them from Corona, but to filter out methane.

ZELP is currently testing different prototypes of cattle masks, according to Agrarheute. They were able to filter out about 30% of the methane emitted by ruminants. In the future, this value will be increased to about 60%.

Highlights: ZELP has been awarded the climate protection “Climate Design Award” for its “revolutionary” concept, created by Prince Charles and WEF designer Sir Jony Ive. The cattle mask was one of four winners and received a cash prize equivalent to 58 000 euros. Prince Charles supports cow masks to fight climate change.

The British monarch is one of the architects of the Great Reset, as the 50th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is called, to be held in June 2020. It brings together the high-ranking business and political leaders, summoned by Prince Charles. At the launch event for the Great Reboot, he listed key areas for action, similar to those listed in his Sustainable Markets Initiative. These include draconian measures to net zero emissions globally as well as the adoption of carbon pricing.

To prove that this report is not a joke, the portal linked a video in its article showing the heir to the throne enthusiastically presenting the project.

The 100-gram rubber mask with a solar-powered fan is designed to direct an animal’s breath into a small chamber and then uses chemical processes to convert the methane to carbon dioxide, Agrarheute explain. But first the farmer must be persuaded to actually use the mask.

One obstacle could be the rather high price: Usage costs $45 per cow and a year, which equates to 41 euros. In addition, the mask will not bring any benefit to the farmer from an economic point of view.

In the comments section below the article, readers wonder if this message is some kind of joke. Agrarheute immediately confirmed that this is unfortunately not the case.

The methane claims have been debunked

One reader commented: “Crazy or stupid? Every thinker understands that the story of the cow’s methane gas is nonsense. The cow is not a perpetual motion machine and it does not generate energy from thin air. The cow lives in the earth’s natural carbon cycle and does not ‘harm the climate’ (if such a thing exists). Even the climate heroes at Climate Facts know it, even though some don’t like it. They are just producing a lot of garbage, trying to get more money out of the farmers’ pockets, end of story. ”

The three main greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, all have different effects on the environment. Methane is known as a ‘gas stream’, which is removed from the atmosphere at a rapid rate. The lifetime of methane in the atmosphere is about 10 years, but the gas streams will stall because they are destroyed at the same rate of emission.

Therefore, the original method for calculating greenhouse gas emissions distorted the impact of short-lived gas flows, such as methane, on future warming.

Hypocrisy of the global elite

The global elites driving the Great Reconstruction this week have released thousands of units of carbon dioxide with an estimated lifetime in the atmosphere of 1000 years, meaning the carbon dioxide released from 2022 will remain within atmosphere in 3022. For example, Meet via Zoom, would be a much better choice, given their “concerns” about climate change.

Tourism in private jet attended the Davos Summit in Switzerland to support their climate agenda for the rest of the world to “limit the rise in global temperatures and avert catastrophe” as stated On its website, “10 one-way private flights departed different European cities Wednesday night and landed at St. Gallen-Altenrhein, the closest runway to Davos, released about 43 440 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

As for the 2019 WEF annual meeting in Davos, according to an analysis from the Aviation Charter Service, Guardians reported at the time that there were about 500 private jets flying to and from airports near the Swiss town.

Prince Charles wears a mask for cows in an effort to deal with climate change

Prince Charles has backed a radical plan to tackle greenhouse gas emissions.

Methane masks could be attached to cows in a way that is unlikely to reduce the carbon footprint of the beef industry.

Francisco Norris, founder of the Zelp (Zero Emissions Livestock Project) design group, which designs the product, said it was a “huge honor” to speak with Prince, whom he met. previously when it introduced its product prototype in 2018.

Charles worriedly asked if the device worn around the cow’s head would be “annoying” to the animal, but Mr Norris reassured that “it didn’t bother them at all”.

Zelp worked with one of the UK’s largest meat producers to test the device on cows.
