Potential aurora tonight and a heatwave coming. All in my latest Podcat
A solar storm happened a few days ago and the particles will reach Earth’s orbit tonight. Potential result: a stunning display of aurora borealis (see example below from Skunk Bay Weather on the Kitsap Peninsula).
My podcast reveals the details.
And then there’s the heat wave in the future.
A strong upper ridge will build offshore (see 500 hPa map upstairs, at 5 p.m. Tuesday below) and this should lead to steady warming next week. The ridges weakened in the following days but did not move rapidly.
In my podcast, I talk about midweek warming and the likelihood of a few days in the 90s being lower in the west and 100F higher in the east.
