Oakland County, Michigan, Prosecutor Karen McDonald outlined some of the key events that took place on the day of the shooting.
A teacher who taught the shooting suspect, Ethan Crumbley, found a piece of paper on her desk the morning of the shooting “that freaked her out so much that she took a picture of it on her cell phone. me”.
She said the piece of paper with a drawing of a semi-automatic pistol pointed to the words, “thoughts won’t stop, help me.” The note also includes a section depicting a bullet with the words “blood everywhere.”
McDonald’s said the suspect’s parents were “immediately summoned” to the school. The prosecutor noted that the suspect altered the note before it was retrieved by the counselor.
“At the meeting, James and Jennifer Crumbley were shown drawings and advised that they had to bring their son in for a consultation within 48 hours,” she said.
The prosecutor said the parents “were not able to ask if their son had a gun or where it was located and were unable to check his backpack for a gun he was carrying.”
Parents opposed the idea of their son leaving school at the time, and they left school without a child, she added. He was returned to the classroom.
