Since hosting our first console tournament in 2016, we’re excited to see the growth of esports and competitive gaming across our platforms. .
For the past three months, we’ve been beta testing the next generation of the console competitive experience: PlayStation Tournaments for PS5.
A new experience that streamlines competitive gameplay with shorter tournament times, seamless check-in on the console, easy-to-discover tournaments, a brand new UI, real-time match updates, and more. many other improvements that address common barriers to competitive online gameplay.
Today, we’re excited to introduce the first official PlayStation Tournament for PS5 – featuring Guilty Gear -Strive, NBA 2K23 and FIFA 23.* Now you can play and compete for prizes in a variety of events, challenges, special leaderboards competitions and more with our global PS5 community.
Kicking off with a special launch
From December 1 to January 31, you can enter the PlayStation Tournament: Win-A-Thon on both PS5 and PS4 consoles. There are plenty of cool prizes on offer, including cash, a PS5 console, and a new DualSense Edge wireless controller.
Win-A-Thon is a leaderboard contest where you can win and improve your overall ranking taking part in a PlayStation Tournament.
Succeed in any Win-A-Thon qualifying tournament for that win to count towards your overall ranking on your regional leaderboard. When the results are counted at the end of January, all the players with the most points will win awesome prizes.
The best PS5 players will take home accessories like the new DualSense Edge wireless controller or the Pulse 3D wireless headset, while PS4 owners can win a PS5 console.

New Features on PlayStation Tournament for PS5
Thanks to community feedback, we’ve introduced a number of new features that make it quick and easy to enter tournaments on PS5, including:
An easy discovery process: Tournaments are easy to find. Scroll to the relevant game on your PS5 home screen and press the down navigation button to see a list of upcoming tournaments. Alternatively, check out available tournaments by launching the Control Center by tapping the PS button while playing a supported game.
Register on the dashboard: Sign up faster than ever. From Control Center or Game Center, simply select an available tournament and press the “Register” button to enter a contest.
frame limit: Traditionally, the length of the tournament will increase as more players compete. However, we’ve introduced a new frame-limiting feature to ensure a standard duration for every tournament. If the limit is exceeded, multiple groups will be created for the same tournament – but the prize pool will not change for each tournament.
More tournaments: Everyone has a different schedule. Tournaments will take place more frequently and at regular intervals, so many players can find time to compete.
Brand new user interface: The all-new tournament UI uses an activity tab pane to make it easy to view tournament information. Notifications will automatically take you through the experience, and you’ll be notified when your next match starts. Tournaments can start at an announcement, giving you time to practice in-game, or even play other titles between matches.
See results automatically and in real time: After registering for a tournament, all relevant details can be accessed through the respective activity card in the Control Center.
Results are automatically displayed and reported as the match progresses.
The status of the entire tournament frame is also viewable in the tournament tab at any time.

Attractive prizes: Anyone who is eligible can apply to win the prize, regardless of skill level.
Prizes can include cash, in-game currency, PlayStation consoles or accessories, experiences, and even special collectibles earned for participation only.
Introducing the new Discord community hub
The PlayStation Tournaments on PS5 will also coincide with the launch of the new PlayStation Tournaments Discord server. Players will be able to connect here to get deeper into the PlayStation competitive community. At this destination, we will host interviews and competitions with key players in the e-sports community along with other special content. Here You will find regular updates on events, articles, videos and news about esports.
