Pilot rescued from ocean crash landing by nearby marine unit
CEDAR KEY, Fla — A pilot that crash-landed within the ocean was rescued by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Workplace and marine models that have been conducting coaching within the space.
The Tampa Marine Unit alongside Citrus County Sheriff’s Workplace Tactical Influence Unit have been conducting joint operations offshore Cedar Key, Florida on November 9 when an plane was noticed floating within the water roughly half a mile from the George T. Lewis Airport.
Officers say as brokers and deputies approached the sinking aircraft, the pilot was noticed climbing out and standing on the wreckage. Brokers then rescued the person.
