If you go to Instagram or similar and click on the hashtag # landscape photography, you can see most of the scenes from famous locations, usually in remote and outback areas. And while there are reasons for many to shoot at those locations, they’re not the only worthwhile locations. In fact, as this great video shows, you can create amazing photos even from your own bedroom.

Anyone can photograph the Grand Canyon, but you are an expert in your local area and you can create images that people living nearby will feel a strong connection with. It is also much cheaper than a trip to some remote location. Most importantly, however, working with what’s around you will train you to be a more thoughtful and creative photographer, since you don’t benefit from pre-made scenes that force you to explore, Experiment and create more creativity and less visual clarity.
