A survey of connected car entertainment from DTS shows that buyers want in-car entertainment services and screens in the front and rear to run those services. Luxury and ultra-luxury car buyers also want more screens in their vehicles. And while audio remains popular, many people report that they are now watching video in their cars.

The survey found that people mostly watch short films from places like YouTube and TikTok. Unsurprisingly, they watch movies or shows from streaming services on longer trips or while charging their electric vehicles. But the main reason for watching videos in the car isn’t surprising either. For many parents, technology now doubles as a babysitter; 32 percent of survey respondents said the main reason they watch videos in their car is to entertain their kids.
The most surprising part of the survey was the results regarding more screens, as Variety explains.
…56% of respondents said they would like a front cabin display, while 58% would like a rear cabin display built into their next vehicle. That interest was highest among ultra-luxury buyers, with 91% saying they would like a front cabin display and 88% wanting a rear display.
Many luxury and ultra-luxury cars already come equipped with multiple screens in the car, so I really wanted to know where these people expect the other screens to be placed.
