Panasonic teases 18mm F1.8 Lumix S prime a day after revealing its new 35mm lens: Digital photography review
In the announcement about Lumix S 35mm F1.8 Yesterday, Panasonic also revealed that they are working on an 18mm F1.8 lens. While there are no details or images to accompany that announcement, we now have our first look at the new lens, thanks to Panasonic China.
As discovered by Mirrorless rumors, Panasonic China has posted an updated image showing the washed-out profile of the upcoming 18mm F1.8 wide-angle lens along with its current sized line of prime lenses.

No information is presented with the upgraded graphics, but it is clear that the 18mm F1.8 lens will have the same ergonomics and dimensions of the Lumix S 24, 35, 50 and 85mm F1 primes. 8. As Panasonic pointed out in its 35mm F1.8 release, this design choice means that each lens can be interchangeable when used on gimbals or with focus rigs, because of the overall weight, balance, similar shape and size.
Other prime lenses in the Lumix S F1.8 lineup range from around $450 to $900, so it’s safe to assume that the 18mm F1.8 version will fall somewhere near the range. That’s when it’s sure to be released.
