Pan Borneo Highway near Kapit town collapses due to flash floods, repair work begins
A section of the Pan Borneo Highway is believed to have collapsed due to high water currents caused by tornadoes from nearby mountains caused by incessant heavy rains in the area.
A video shared on Vibes The Twitter account from PKR Sarawak chief information officer Abun Sui Anyit shows half of the road collapsing into a ravine, creating a waterfall in the process.
The Department of Public Works in the nearest town of Kapit has issued a public notice telling people to avoid this stretch of road. For now, the area is closed to all vehicles and repair works have begun.
