Other structural and bike changes for the 727 Moto ASBK . team
727 Changing Moto Teams
Stewart Winton has been confirmed as Substitute for Paul Free as Broc Pearson’s captain and will now be in charge of development for Team 727 Moto alongside Brent Stephens, who will continue as captain for Jed Metcher.
Winton has been an integral part of the 727 Moto and also Yamaha’s Racing Development (YRD) program, but he has focused on the electronic side of the equation because the team acts as a development team. Yamaha’s development regarding the evaluation of the ASBK MoTeC program.
727 Moto is also bringing Ty Lynch under their banner and has signed Jon Hafey to help direct the team’s Supersport team and help guide Ty in his quest to win the 2022 Australian Supersport Championship.
The 727 Moto will be testing at QR later this month with Jed and Broc on the Superbikes and Ty on the Supersport.
The team is currently rebuilding the Superbike engine and will use the May 24-25 test to shake the bike and further gauge progress and performance as they head towards the second half of the 2022 ASBK Championship. .
727 Moto will also aim to set up a base using YEC electronics and evaluate Yamaha’s kit against their MoTeC-equipped bikes and learn from those comparisons to continue. MoTeC development project continues to progress, of course still in its early days with many possibilities unexplored or underutilized.
Another factor that led to that decision was that Broc Pearson had just joined the ranks of Superbike, and the team wanted to put him in a safe and well-established place.
This will allow Broc to focus on learning the Superbike rather than using his chair time experimenting with a new set of electronics that can be notoriously difficult to master. This probably became more present in mind after a malicious ball in the 1/8 round of the Wakefield Park championship left the 21-year-old player with a strong concussion.
The team has no plans to compete in the next round in Darwin but will race the final three laps for the championship: Morgan Park (August 7), Phillip Island (November 20) and The Bend finale (November 27). The 727 Moto will also race in non-champion ASBK support races at the Phillip Island MotoGP circuit.
