Ortiz Jr. Gulf Record Ties with Seven Wins Day
Top racer Irad Ortiz Jr. equaled the record for most wins by one racer on a card at Gulfstream Park February 3 after riding the winners of seven consecutive races in a nine-race program.

Ortiz shares the Gulfstream record with four other riders: Jerry Bailey (March 11, 1996), Tyler Gaffalione (July 4/17), Luis Saez (January 24, 18; March 29, 18) and Paco Lopez (March 21, 20).
Ortiz became the only jockey in Gulfstream history to win seven races in a row.
“It feels great. Everything went very well today,” Ortiz said. “It’s one of those days where everything goes your way, so enjoy it. We have some live horses and we always try to look on the positive side with them and ride confidently. them. But not every day is as successful as today. It’s hard, but today is one of those days.”
