Opera Heroine Rougir Among Wildcards for Arqana Sale
Final month’s Prix de l’Opera Longines (G1) heroine Rougir headlines three further wildcards to have been added to Arqana’s Breeding Stock Sale in December.
The daughter of Territories , who is cataloged as Lot 160, won her first two starts as a 2-year-old before finishing third in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac-Criterium des Pouliches (G1) and then landing the Prix des Reservoirs (G3) that autumn.
Trained by Cedric Rossi, Rougir was second in the Prix Chloe (G3) this term before finishing fourth to Mother Earth in the Prix Rothschild (G1) and third in the Prix de la Nonette (G2). Her Prix de l’Opera triumph saw her emerge victorious over fellow Arqana entry Grand Glory , who struck in the Darley Prix Jean Romanet (G1) on her previous start.
Most recently, in her start following the Prix de l’Opera, she was seventh in the Maker’s Maker Filly & Mare Turf (G1T) at Santa Anita Park Nov. 6.
Persona Grata (Lot 170), the dam of this season’s Kilboy Estate Stakes (G2) third Lovely Esteem , will be offered by Haras des Capucines.
A twin listed winner and group 3-placed, the daughter of Sir Percy is a half sister to Kesara , the dam of this year’s triple Australian group 1 winner Zaaki , and from the family of classic heroine Riverqueen, the dam of the talented Rouvres and Rose Kingdom. She is currently carrying to Night of Thunder .
The trio is completed by Eudaimonia (Lot 200), a multiple group-placed daughter of Vision d’Etat who was third behind Rougir in the Prix de l’Opera.
Consigned by trainer Edouard Monfort, the 6-year-old was also a recent second in the Premio Lydia Tesio Italian Champions Fillies & Mares (G2) and third in last year’s Prix du Conseil de Paris (G2).
Eudaimonia is the first foal out of the listed-placed Elenya , a Lawman half sister to Haafhd Jebel Hatta Stakes (G2) scorer Seihali .
