Oak Brook, Illinois, Louis Vuitton: 14 people rushed into a store outside Chicago and ran out with at least $100,000 in merchandise, police say

Police told WLS that the men stormed into the store at the Oak Brook Mall on Wednesday, took out trash bags and began filling them with store items. Surveillance video from the store, obtained by WLS, shows chaos as masked vendors swarm into the store to grab bags and other goods while shoppers rush into the street.

According to Sheriff James Kruger, Oak Brook Police Chief James Kruger, investigators have information about three vehicles the thieves drove away. Oak Brook is about 25 miles west of Chicago.

“We’re working with those leads to be able to identify the suspects,” Kruger told WLS.

Kruger also told WLS that his investigators were working with investigators in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, where police said eight people robbed a Louis Vuitton store at Northbrook Court Mall in October and was successful with $66,000 worth of merchandise. On November 1, at least 13 men wearing masks and gloves entered the same Louis Vuitton store and stole some $100,000 worth of items. Northbrook is about 30 km . from Oak Brook

“We don’t know if there’s any real connection, but there are certainly similarities,” Kruger said.

The thefts are similar to the one in California over the weekend.

San Francisco police say many people have been arrested after a Louis Vuitton store in San Francisco was looted Friday night and Saturday night in Walnut Creek, California, a Nordstrom was searched by “about 80 suspects” who fled in at least 10 different vehicles, CNN previously reported.
