Not this time Filly Power at Saratoga auction


Not this time will be on display at Fasig-Tipton’s Saratoga Gift Bazaar, taking place August 5-6, in Saratoga Springs, New York. The gift bazaar will feature 13 products from the great son of the Giant’s Causeway, including two standouts.

Hip 11 is a half-sister to late birth phenomenon in Louisiana Ova charger and Hip 209 is a half-sister to the grade 2 winner Red carpet is ready ; both yearlings were sired by Taylor Made Stallions.

Although a soft tissue injury ended his racing career, Not This Time has made up for it as a stallion. He is a top 10 overall stallion in 2023 and has sired six Grade 1 winners and 16 graded winners as of August 2. He has proven his versatility as a stallion, winning at a variety of distances on all surfaces.

Not This Time’s most recent winners include record-breaking Cogburn record winner of the Jaipur Stakes (G1T) at Saratoga Race Track; Next Brooklyn Stakes (G2) marathon winner; and Arzak winner of the Shakertown Stakes (G2T) and second to Cogburn at Jaipur. The latter was a final third in the Wolf Hill Stakes on July 20 at Monmouth Park.

“One of his best qualities is he can get you the fastest grass sprinter in the country, and also get you the best long-distance horse in the country. His versatility also comes through in his physical attributes, you can see a lot of different types, which is great,” said Marshall Taylor.

Not This Time mare, Charged Cotton, consigned to Hip 11 by Taylor Made Sale Agency at The Saratoga Sale

Hip 11, the aforementioned half-sister to Ova Charged, sold on August 5 to Taylor Made Sales Agency. Ova Charged was a graded winner who had won 15 races but was tragically broken in her 19th career start in the Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Ladies Turf Sprint on August 3 at Ellis ParkShe was humanely euthanized.

Hip 11 is bred by Evelyn Benoit’s Brittlyn Stables. The sorrel mare is out of the winning mare Dehere. Electric cotton dam of six winners from seven foals to race. The colt Not This Time is also a half-sister to UAE Oaks (G3) winner Manama Gold. Manama Gold is because Star Guitar making her the biological sister of Ova Charged. Charged Cotton is also the dam of the stake placed Sethamee Road (Street feel ).

Taylor said it was exciting to have a mare related to these ranked/group winners.

“It worked really well with Star Guitar, I can’t wait to see what it does with Not This Time,” says Taylor.

Hip 209, half-sister with Oscar acting The 4-year-old mare Red Carpet Ready will be sold on August 6 in the store’s second auction. The 1-year-old sorrel mare will be consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, the same banner that sold Red Carpet Ready at this auction for $180,000 in 2021.

Hip 209 was bred in Kentucky by Maggie Gieseke. She is out of Street feel mare Wild Silk . Wild Silk is a half-sister to the 2016 Vosburgh Stakes (G1) winner kidding (Distorted humor). Hip 209 also comes from the immediate family of multiple award winners. Federal Business .

“She (Red Carpet Ready) was amazing. She wasn’t very big, but she had nice straight hind legs and a lovely gait,” recalled Mill Ridge’s Price Bell Jr.

“Sometimes it’s hard to get horses that stand out. We try to get horses that we believe in and want the end user to see up here, I think she ended up being health checked nine or 12 times,” he said.

Red Carpet Ready has been on the board in eight of her 10 career starts. She finished a game second in her turf debut on Saturday in the Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Ladies Turf Sprint. Red Carpet Ready’s trainer, Rusty Arnold, has her sights set on the $1.5 million Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf Sprint (G2T) on Aug. 31 or the $350,000 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2) on dirt on Oct. 5 at Keeneland are potential future targets.

The Saratoga Sale will begin August 5 at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion.

“The traffic is good, it feels great. The energy here is great on the sales floor. The racing in New York is really good; the racing in Kentucky is really good. I hope; we’re all relieved after a year and the progress we’re making,” Bell said.
