We are not sure if Nissan thinking Chicago Auto Show the reality was SEMAbut we’re not complaining about the trio 2022 Nissan Frontiers company is showing. Two of those are some charming vintage-style builds, and the other is what looks like a very capable overlander. They are all designed by Nissan Design America, and if you like their styling, at least a few can be replicated without much difficulty.
Nissan Frontier Project 72X
First is Border Project 72X. It is based on the modest Frontier S 4×4 trim and it aims to evoke Datsun 720 compact pickup trucks. Much of the retro upgrade is done by the gray paintwork and custom vinyl graphics, but the white painted steel wheels also play a big part. Turns out those wheels were just Frontier spare tires painted white and wrapped in Pro-4X-spec tyres. It also received a seller sports bar accessories and a after-sales 2.5 inch lift with adjustable top handle from Calmini.
Nissan Frontier Project hard body
Next up is Project Hardbody, inspired by hardbody pickups of the 80s and 90s. It started out as a mid-level 4×4 SV. This features slightly more substantial modifications and custom parts, but it still has some Nissan Frontier little. For example, the flares and fenders come from the Pro-4X. Sports bars and rocking rails are also dealer accessories, as are hood stickers. Among the customizations, the most impressive are the specially machined Hardbody-style alloy wheels shod with 33-inch tires. The vans sits on a 3-inch Calmini lift with an adjustable front handlebar, and it has a bed-mounted spare tire and off-road LED lights. It also has some retro graphics on the sides and on the rear doors.
Nissan Frontier Project Adventure
Rather than a nostalgic look, Project Adventure is a relatively simple outlanding rig. It is based on the Pro-4X. It gets a boost from the Calmini’s 5-inch raised suspension coupled with 34-inch muddy off-road tires. Other off-road upgrades include a large LED light bar, a custom one carbon fiber Snorkel and rock rails accessories dealer. For the camping aspect, the bed is equipped with a rack system, roof basket and roof tent. The dealer’s Kicker Bluetooth sound system is also featured on the bed. And the truck has vinyl wrap based on the atlas of the United States.
