Nintendo Switch Sports Announced, Release Date

Legendary Nintendo Wii Launch Game Wii Sports is received a proper follow-up on the Switch, although it was long before the Switch’s launch window. The Nintendo Switch Sports Release date is set for April 29, 2022.

The February 2022 Nintendo Direct shared a trailer for the game.

The Nintendo Switch SportThe S’s release date trailer detailed some of the updates coming to the Switch version of the series. Instead of a system-level Mii avatar, Nintendo Switch Sports players are represented by more detailed characters. The environment and map also feature updated graphics from the original Wii. The game will support local play on a single Switch system for up to 4 players, as well as online play for the first time. Online options include friend-based matches and random matches. Players can unlock additional items from playing online.

The game features sports from the original Wii Sportslike Tennis, Bowling and the fencing game Champara from Wii . Sports Resort. Football, Volleyball and Badminton also join as new activities. Like the original, all games use motion controls. People holding Switch Joy-con controllers in their hands. Foot strap included Ring Fit Adventure (and including the physical version) may also play a role. An example shown involves attaching a Joy-con to a leg strap to allow the kick motion to be used when playing Shootout mode. An update expected for the summer will add foot strap functionality for standard Soccer matches.

Nintendo Switch Sports will launch on Switch on April 29, 2022. Pre-release online play testing will take place February 18-20, 2022 for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Golf will join the sports lineup in a planned fall update.
