The NFL is requiring top employees to get a Covid-19 vaccine by December 27, according to a memo obtained by CNBC.
Duties include coaches, coaches, doctors and others who have direct contact with players, as well as staff including several assistant coaches, general managers and operations staff .
The memo also recommends that clubs arrange to provide energy drinks to eligible employees. Any employee currently ineligible for a booster, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, must comply with the new policy within 14 days of being eligible for a booster.
Players are not affected by the new mission, as their Covid protocols must be negotiated with the NFL Players Association.
The change follows an uptick in positive cases among NFL players as the omicron Covid variant is kept on hold across the country. Thirty-six players, 25 players on the active list and 11 on the training team, were placed on the reserve list on Monday following positive Covid tests.
