Newer than retro: JVB-moto remixes Triumph Bobber

Triumph Bobber This is one of the most beautiful production bikes on the market today. From the faux stiff tail frame, to the solo seats and sinewy fenders, this is an elegant motorcycle that exudes classic appeal. But that’s not why Jens vom Brauck loves it.

Thanks to Jens’ keen eye and excellent judgment, JVB-moto machines are recognized by their clean styling. So instead of relying on Bobber’s classic vibe, he set out to turn it into something more modern. After all, it To be a modern bike, complete with a liquid-cooled engine, ABS, traction control, good suspension and brakes.

“I tried to make it look less nostalgic, more modern minimalist…even timeless,” he explains. “No exaggeration, but with a bit of a bad vibe.”

Starting with a 2017 model Bobber, Jens ditched most of the OEM bodywork, keeping only its relatively compact fuel tank. Inspired by everything from chopper up to the sports cars of the ’80s, he designed new components that could be attached directly to the Bobber, with the aim of being able to reproduce this style in the future.

This process took many months for Jens to complete. Each part is forged by hand with clay, aluminum, fiberglass and a filling compound. From there, molds were created so that the final parts could be manufactured using high-quality epoxy-based fiberglass.

One big change is the Triumph’s rear end, where Jens swapped out the original seats for a sleeker and more comfortable rear end. It sits on an integrated subframe that bolts directly to OEM attachment points, with a slim LED taillight embedded under the rear lip.

“It’s inspired by the classics bobbers and choppers, but with a certain sporty feel about it,” explains Jens. “And of course I wanted it to look like a properly designed motorcycle, not a mechanic job.”

One of the signature touches of the JVB-moto is the boxy headlight housing that Jens manages to adapt to almost any bike style. Here, he’s taken the concept further by designing Bobber’s new front splint around the rectangular headlights. And it works surprisingly well.

Rounding out the bodywork is a pair of side flaps, which help complement both the Triumph’s frame and the modern look Jens is aiming for. The front end is equipped with a new set of forks and a fork brace that carries the nominal front fender. At the rear are carbon fiber wheel covers, alloy chain guards and an adjustable license plate mount.

Jens has also upgraded some of Bobber’s running gear. The front fork is used inside the new Wilbers, with a Wilbers shock absorber hidden under the saddle. The new exhaust silencers are from Vance and Hines, but they have been modified.

Above is a set of JVB-moto bars, held in place by LSL risers. A little Motogadget speedo is housed in a neatly designed housing right in front of the fuel tank, while a set of Motoism-ordered LED turn signals do the job at both ends.

“With the futuristic ‘spellings’, the bike has lost its vintage look and will no longer be confused with a motorcycle from the 50s,” says Jens. “The color of the tank To be classic though. It’s a timeless blue-gray British Leyland from the 60s”.

We certainly see the appeal — and we’re pleased to announce that, like all JVB-moto models, the Bobber is made to ride. Jens took it to the famous Wheels & Waves event, then tore through the Pyrenees on it. And it will head to the next Geralt 101 racing festival.

“It was fun,” he told us, “and it’s faster than you might expect. At 225 kg, it is quite light for a 1,200 cc cruiser. Plus a really great torque engine, a good chassis, a comfortable seat and a revised suspension make for a great driving experience. “

So what’s the next step? Jens has a long and fruitful cooperation with European parts manufacturer, Kedo. So, naturally, he intends to put as many parts on this Bobber into production as possible.
