A border coyote named Tux was put in a dangerous situation after he strayed into a frozen pond in upstate New York.
The dog’s hind legs fell through the thin ice, trapping it in the freezing water.
The Frewsburg Fire Company rushed to save the dog after receiving a call early in the morning.
“At 7:47 a.m., we were sent to a report of a dog that had partially fallen through the ice on a pond,” posted fire department.
Firefighters put on protective gear before entering the freezing water. They break the ice as they make their way to the trapped dog. Tux was eventually freed and brought back to shore by rescuers.
He spent some time warming up in a fire truck and was later returned to his owner.
The fire department shared the good news on Facebook and Written, “The crew was quick to respond and were able to safely rescue the family pet. The owner reports that he is warming up and is back to his usual self. Everyone involved did a great job!! ”
Chautauqua County Sheriff witnessed the amazing rescue and speak, “Thanks to the swift action of the fire brigade, this dangerous situation had a very happy ending”.
As temperatures drop and snow begins to fall in many states around the country, it’s important for dog owners to keep a close eye on their furry friends.
Every year, firefighters rescue countless dogs that have fallen through thin ice on lakes and ponds.
Hypothermia can occur in dogs after 5-10 minutes in freezing water. The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends that dog owners stay away from ice.

You don’t know if the ice will support your dog’s weight, and if your dog breaks the ice, it can be deadly. And if this happens and you instinctively try to save your dog, both of your lives could be in danger.”
