New discovery shows that the Gulf Stream has “enhanced” over the past century… “Heat transport has increased by 30%”! – Is it good?

A series of recent scientific publications refute the climate model’s claims of a weakening of the Atlantic meridian inversion (AMOC).

The latest Klimaschau look according to the latest scientific findings on the Gulf Stream. An excellent review of the latest AMOC science. Here I present the results in English.

Climate panics like the Potsdam Institute want to claim the Gulf Stream is showing ominous signs of slowing down and therefore threatens to send Europe into a deep freeze. Their dodgy models predicted a decline in its strength, due to anthropogenic climate warming.

The surprise: Gulf currents have strengthened

But as Klimaschau explainA lot of new findings show that the opposite actually seems to be happening: “The expansion of the Gulf Stream has increased steadily over the past century… Heat transport into the Nordic Seas has steadily increased in volume and temperature over the past century.. ”

Lars H. Smedsrud, a professor at UiB and researcher at the Bjerknes Center for Climate Research, has reviewed 100 years of research results to see how shipping has evolved, the press release said. .

The researchers were surprised to discover such consistent results showing a steady increase, followed by the expansion of the Gulf Stream into the “enhanced” Nordic Sea. With a surprising increase in volume, the total heat transported was increase with 30 percent.

Smedsrud and his team examined changes associated with Arctic ice melting, Greenland glacier melt, and CO.2 absorption from the atmosphere.

“Although we had expected temperatures to increase, there is nothing about global warming that would indicate an increase in mass transport. But this increase is consistent with both stronger winds and dwindling sea ice. In addition, we noticed an increase in longitudinal and transverse ocean circulation in the Nordic and Arctic Seas,” said the press release. “How ocean circulation will develop in the future, is still uncertain.”

Another study: have not found any slowdown yet

In a recent study by Canzos et al., 2022, titled: “Thirty Years of GOSHIP and WOCE Data: The Reversal of Mass, Heat, and Freshwater Transport in the Atlantic“, the authors found that transoceanic systems that monitor the currents on the water column have yet to find any slowdown.

The authors analyzed hydrological data collected over the past 30 years and built a model for each decade of the Atlantic’s circulation. Their results: They found “no variation in Atlantic time for each hydrologic profile.”

All of this is contradictory e.g. statements by alarmist authors appear in Nature This shows that AMOC is weakening. Rahmstorfian’s cherry pick was then challenged by Kilbourne et al., 2022.

High volatility AMOC

However, another recent article by Neil Fraser and Stuart Cunningham is titled: “120 Multi-year AMOC variability reconstructed from observations using the Bernoulli . inverse“A lot of variation in AMOC volumetric flow has been found since 1900:

The authors said they were unable to find any significant weakening trends in AMOC over the past 120 years, thus refuting Rahmstorf’s panic-inducing claims.

Natural cycle

The missing AMOC weakening was also recently confirmed by a team of experts from Germany, Great Britain, France and the United States in an article in the journal Nature Reviews Earth & Environment.. According to the press release GEOMAR: “Analysis shows that AMOC has weakened and strengthened continuously over the past several decades. This appears to be mainly part of a natural shift that recurs at a rate of several decades. The researchers added that they were “unable to determine whether there has been longer-term fundamental weakness.”

More on this on Tuesday… stay tuned!
