New Bet Format for 2023 at Horseshoe Indianapolis

Horseshoe Indianapolis is always looking to take racing to the next level. One of the most important aspects for the team is customer satisfaction. Race management listened to supporters of the Indiana racing program. As a result, some changes will be made when the race resumes at 2:30pm on Tuesday, April 18 for the 21st racing season.

Eric Halstrom, Vice President and General Manager of Racing said: “Our team stays engaged with our customers year-round and is without a doubt the most requested change from many of the best players. Ours is to eliminate the Straight Fire 6 Jackpot. “We have listened and are removing Jackpot Pick 6 from the betting format in 2023. It will be replaced by an additional Pick 5 in the first five Purebred races daily and we think this will be the a win-win for both our customers and riders.”

The Late Fire 5 joins the current Pick 5, moving on to the first five Purebred races on the show. Both bets will offer the lowest return in the industry of 11.99 percent, an option that was very well received by racing customers two years ago. Each race program will also retain two four picks on the card, with the first pick 4 being held starting with the second Thoroughbred race and the late pick 4 scheduled for the last four Purebred races on card. Both Pick 4 bets also have a 15 percent drop in payout. All four bets start with a minimum of 50 coins and offer separate pools, each with its own rollovers.

“We realize that sometimes our two Pick 5 bets will overlap in the middle of our show, but we feel this is an additional bet that our fans will accept,” Halstrom added. “By offering lower drawdowns, an additional 5 Pick, and adjusting our posting times to accommodate other races running, we feel this is a good combination to engage and enhance our race presentation to our staking customers.”

In addition to Pick 5 and Pick 4 bets, the exotic betting format also includes a Rotating Pick 3 and Daily Doubles from the first race onwards, including Quarter horse races, Grand Hi 5 (five man finish). top finish in a race) starting with the sixth race on the daily remaining Thoroughbred races and the Grand Hi-5 on all Quarter Horse races. Each Grand Hi 5 bet offers a 10 cent minimum and a forward money offer.
