The governor of Nevada on Thursday said the state is rolling out a prescription discount card, a method of alleviating soaring medical costs that is also being used in Washington and Oregon.
Governor Steve Sisolak said the digital card, called ArrayRX, saves an average of 80% on generic prescriptions and up to 20% on free and brand-name drugs for Nevadans. For those without health insurance, the card is set to reduce costs significantly, he said at Thursday’s press conference in Las Vegas. Those with health insurance will be able to compare their costs with the ArrayRX and possibly choose whichever option is cheaper, he added.
“Taking care of yourself and prioritizing your health should not leave you broke,” Sisolak says.
Nevada Senator Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro said the digital card is “another tool in our toolbox to ensure that Nevadans can continue to pay for health care without they need and take care of their families.”

Sisolak announced in February at its State address that Nevada would join Oregon and Washington in the Northwest Prescription Drug Association, a program aimed at reducing prescription costs through the state’s discount system.
A spokesperson for Nevada’s Health and Human Services said there was no cost to the state. Instead, there is a small transaction fee built into the price that the consumer sees and pays, helping to cover the cost of the program.
All residents in Nevada, Oregon and Washington are eligible for a digital card regardless of age or income, according to ArrayRX, and can sign up on the ArrayRX website, where more information on prescription pricing is available.
