Need-to-know stats from the Bulls’ 8-match winning streak

The Chicago Bulls are on the rise.

Following a 102-98 win over the Orlando Magic, the Bulls now have the league’s longest winning streak at eight games as they extend their lead over the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the Eastern Conference to 2.0 games.

Four of their eight wins have been decided by five points or less, marked by those who beat DeMar DeRozan’s straight wins over the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards.

“We can’t be satisfied with anything,” DeRozan said via the Chicago Tribune. “We work extremely hard, it cannot be taken for granted. We understand our mission – and that is to keep growing better.

“Yes, we won some games. We’re on a winning streak, but we’re not happy with that.”

As they look to continue their fiery red form, let’s dive into some of the numbers behind their eight-match streak.

10: Years since they last won 8 games in a row

Their current eight-game winning streak is the Bulls’ longest streak since the 2012 season.

The five starting to take charge of that streak are reigning MVP Derrick Rose, Rip Hamilton, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah.

The current Bulls still have a long way to go to break the 18 franchise record set by the legendary 72-10 1995-96 Bulls, who won the NBA championship.

2: Attack on all cylinders

In their last eight games, the Bulls have second best offensive rating in the league at 119.0, second only to the San Antonio Spurs (4-4).

Despite players entering and leaving the squad due to health and safety regulations, most notably Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, the Bulls did not uncomfortably miss a beat.

Only DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic and Coby White appeared in all eight games during the series.

92: The bulls begin to take the lead

The Bulls rely on their starting group for most of their points, with only the Toronto Raptors bench having less output than the Bulls’ bench this season.

Over 35 games, the Bulls starters averaged 84.4 points per night (ranked number one in the NBA), but throughout this streak they’ve taken things to the next level. 92.0 points per game.

DeRozan was in the lead, averaging 28.5, while Zach LaVine was 27.7 a night and Vucevic 17.8.

1: Zach LaVine in uncharted waters

Going into the season, Bulls keeper Zach LaVine has never won four games in a row in his entire seven-year NBA career.

How things have changed for the 2020 Olympic gold medalist, who is currently playing his best basketball and is now on track to make it to the knockout stages for the first time this season.

In that streak, LaVine played six of those games, averaging 27.7 points, scoring with absurd efficiency with 53.2% from the field, 54.2% from the 3-point line and 91 .7% at the free-throw line.
