NBA ends 2022-23 season with Lakers vs Warriors; Celtics face 76ers
The NBA 2022-23 season will kick off October 18 with two games, including hosts Golden State Warriors receiving the championship ring before the opening game against the Los Angeles Lakers in San Francisco.
The game is a repeat of opening night in 2021 when the Warriors beat the Lakers in Los Angeles.
In the second leg, the Boston Celtics runner-up from last season will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the first game of the season, the 77th of the tournament. The NBA released its full schedule on Wednesday.
The regular season will end on April 9, 2023. The Play-In Tournament will begin two days later and end on April 14. The knockout round begins on April 15. Match 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals is scheduled to take place on June 1.
Christmas Day will include five games including the Lakers, Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks. There will also be two global games in the season. The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs meet on December 17 in Mexico City, and the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons square on January 19 in Paris.
The federation also made sure to minimize travel in the schedule. Mileage per team is at a historic low, according to the league. Total miles traveled will drop by more than 50,000 from the 2021-22 season.
