Tonight’s NBA All-Star Moment of the Night is an easy decision as they come.

Memphis Grizzlies defense of Ja Morant – who has never been an All-Star but is building a pretty good campaign so far this season – has added another All-Star-worthy moment to his résumé.

Beating the Phoenix Suns in first place on the road, the Grizzles narrowly missed out on one of their best wins of the season as they led by seven points with two minutes left to miss.

Two points ahead with less than 10 seconds of play, Suns star Devin Booker caught a wide open pass at the top of the 3-point line, burying what appeared to be a three-pointer in the game to seal victory back to the Phoenix.

With five seconds left, Memphis had only one chance to stop the lead and Morant capitalized on it. Putting the ball into their superstar’s hands, Morant drove into the lane as four Suns players fell around him. The commotion didn’t leave the guard cold-blooded as Morant hovered in the air with defenders circling him, trying his best to beat the sirens and win the game for the Grizzlies.

This capped 21 points in the second half for Morant, who finished with 33 points, four rebounds and four assists on the night.

I mean, speaking of difficulty – this image below was taken from Morant’s game winning footage.

All-Stars make big plays, as we’ve seen from Booker on the other end of the formerly owned floor. Morant, the leading contender to make his All-Star debut this season, responded with an even grander play than his two-time All-Star rival.

This continues what has been a breakout campaign for the third-year keeper, who is averaging a career-high across the board with 23.7 points, 6.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game. . He’s helped the Grizzlies play well beyond anyone’s expectations in pre-season, moving into a 21-14th place finish of the season with a win, well enough to secure a sole fourth place in the Western Conference.

As you probably know, team success can be just as important as individual success when it comes to distinguishing yourself from other All-Star contenders, and Morant looks pretty deserving in both of those divisions.
