NASA: Powerful Solar Storm is about to hit Earth today, causing dazzling auroras

NASA revealed a powerful solar storm will hit Earth today, and its impact will show up in brilliant auroras. Check out the details here.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has confirmed and issued a warning about a strong solar storm impacting the Earth on March 28. According to the space agency, this powerful solar storm. is expected to hit Earth’s atmosphere above the UK. Solar storms are caused when the Sun shoots electromagnetic particles or solar rays off its surface. And these bursts of energy are fired into space to turn into solar storms, sometimes capable of destroying every communication network on Earth – from cell phones to satellites to the power grid.

However, there is a slight difference in the exact time the solar storm will make landfall on Earth. For its part, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted another time for the solar storm’s collision with Earth. Based on NASA’s prediction of a sunlight-Earth collision at midnight on March 28 while US NOAA estimates this to happen 18 hours ahead of NASA’s prediction. Dr. Tamitha Skov, the renowned space weather forecaster, shared information regarding the solar storm a few days ago in her online forecast.

Tamitha tweeted about the upcoming solar storm and her tweet read, “Fast or slow? An Earth-bound #solarstorm is on its way to Earth, but NASA & NOAA projections are inconsistent on impact duration. NASA says the impact will happen near midnight on March 28, but NOAA believes 18 hours before that. Either way #aurora can reach mid-latitudes! (sic)”

What will this solar storm hit on Earth?

She predicts the solar storm will hit GPS and high-frequency radio reception systems and it could cause some problems. In addition, her secondary solar storm caused dazzling auroras throughout the mid-latitudes, particularly in areas near the UK. She further mentioned that the aurora borealis can be seen in regions like New Zealand and Tasmania in Antarctica due to the darkness in these areas.

She recently shared some pictures of some of the fascinating auroras in these regions from Twitterati. One of the tweets mentioned, “Best Aurora of the Year (so far) at Butchers Dam, Alexandra last night,” while another mentioned “Nice band growing in ND. See it on @ NoDDAC_cameras… Oh btw, that ice is north of MB. Now we are speeding to the background area we detected earlier.”
