MuleSoft Connect 2022: Automation drives digital transformation
Salesforce expanded MuleSoft’s automation tools at their annual event.
Amid the pandemic, inflation and a widening skills gap, and talent shortages, 2022 has proven to be a difficult year for most businesses. The last few years have forced companies to re-evaluate their processes and dive first into digital transformation. This transformation means different things to different businesses, but more often than not, it means moving towards automation to increase efficiency and accuracy. Here’s a chorus going on at MuleSoft Connect 2022.
Recently reports from Salesforce and Vanson Bourne revealed that 91% of companies have an increased need for automation in their process over the past two years. The report also notes that 96% of those surveyed said modifying and rebuilding their automotive systems is difficult due to the constantly changing needs of businesses.
MuleSoft increases access to automation tools
During the event’s keynote, MuleSoft Product Executive Stephen Hsu described their goal of empowering integration and automation teams, noting that automation “is more than just about there is a bot, but rather to get our team members ready to do high-value work.”
MuleSoft showcased their automation toolset and provided a demo at their annual event:
- MuleSoft RPA (robot process automation)
- Composer MuleSoft
- Anypoint Platform
These tools have been designed with no code capabilities so that both technical and non-technical teams can pivot and adjust to changing workflows. Instead of spending valuable time on tasks like manual data entry, users can build an automated process that will be more efficient and reduce the user error that comes with manual tasks.
“It is critical that organizations become more adaptive to technological change, allowing them to build automations,” said Matt McLarty, global CTO & VP of digital transformation office at MuleSoft. digitize and connect data and applications as a whole.

How does MuleSoft RPA work?
As it sounds like it, robotic process automation combines robotics and automation to handle repetitive processes.
“RPA tools can record users performing repetitive tasks and generate a script that the software robot follows to perform said task,” says Mulesoft. “Typically, the script this bot generates is based on the overall clicks, entries, movements, and actions the user takes on the screen. The RPA bot will then follow the script to repeat those steps – collecting data and manipulating applications and systems just like a human.
MuleSoft RPA will normally be on the market in early August 2022.
What is Mulesoft Composer?
Once users have built in automation, MuleSoft has a codeless integration platform Composure to connect data to the application. These apps can include those in the Salesforce family, like Slack and Tableau, but can also integrate with non-Salesforce apps.

API against AnyPoint Platform
As automation evolved, MuleSoft offered their AnyPoint Platform as a means for IT teams to manage, monitor, and secure any automation and integration built with APIs or bots.
At one of their sessions, MuleSoft team members, Sameer Parulkar, director of product marketing, Jing Li, director of product management, and Parvez Mohammed, director of product management, discussed the issue. This API is rampant. They describe the pervasiveness of APIs as an issue where IT departments will develop APIs as they need them and eventually they will sit in a cloud. Other developers and team members were completely unaware that they existed, so they ended up creating new APIs. The AnyPoint platform catalogs APIs, allowing developers to reuse or reconfigure them instead of constantly rebuilding.
MuleSoft Connect took place in New York on June 29 and on June 30 in London, Paris and Sydney, and MuleSoft took the opportunity to showcase its latest automation and integration tools.
