Motorcyclist stops a Proton Saga driving in the NKVE emergency lane – the driver just used Smartlane
Abuse of the emergency lane is a big no-no and can get you in trouble with the government. In some cases, there are even motorists who try to do their own “justice” on the perpetrators by deliberately positioning their vehicles in a way that blocks and stops those who violate the lane. Urgent gain advantage.
One such incident was recently caught in a viral video posted on social media, showing a motorcyclist stopping a Proton Saga driving in an emergency lane. Before applauding the motorcyclist’s actions for “giving punishment,” you should know that the Saga driver did nothing wrong.
Why? Well, the driver Saga is using Smartlane currently located on NKVE road from Setia Alam to Shah Alam, a stretch of road notorious for bad rush hour traffic. More specifically, Smartlane operates from KM 3.2 to KM 9.2 northbound, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on weekday mornings excluding holidays – drivers must not exceed 60 km/h.
Based on the timestamp on the video, the incident took place on May 18, 2022, which is Wednesday, at around 9:14 am. As a result, Saga drivers have all rights to use Smartlane, which PLUS Malaysia has been authorized by the Highways Authority of Malaysia (LLM) to set up back in January of this year.
So if you find yourself on this particular stretch of NKVE and spot someone abusing the emergency lane, check the date and time before trying to make that person internet famous for reasons wrong.
Bagi valley yg bekerja di Klang, tlg ambil perhatian.
Kenderaan dibenarkan utk mengguna emergency lane Setiap Isnin – Jumaat dari 6.30 – 9.30 am on NKVE Setia Alam – Shah Alam highway. Jgn nak tunjuk hero dengan block kenderaan lain mcm brader motor ni buat.
