More than 1,500 flights canceled today due to Winter Storm Olive, more expected on Thursday

Turns out the python was right. Winter isn’t over yet, and to prove it, Winter Storm Olive is bringing nearly 2 feet of snow and dangerous travel conditions to several locations as it makes its icy journey across the country.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, the US had seen 4,182 flights delayed and more than 1,500 canceled, according to the website Flight knowledge. In addition, according to legend, TPG employees across the country today reported markedly turbulent flights, making for a bumpy day of traveling around.

The airports most affected this afternoon by flight delays and cancellations were Denver International Airport (DEN), Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), shown by FlightAware. As the storm moves east on Thursday, the latest forecast is that the western Great Lakes, New England and parts of New York will also begin to be affected.
