Moore: Catterall Up gives Taylor a rematch at 147 but wants to win the world at 140
Jamie Moore believes a rematch between Jack Catterall and Josh Taylor will happen as his boxer wins the world title in the ultralightweight division.
Catterall’s coach was shocked and angered by Taylor’s decision to split as the Scot defended his undisputed title at 140 lbs against the Englishman last month.
The aftermath of the war has swept the world with many figures from sports disgusted by the verdict.
The British Boxing Control Board will review the scorecards this week with 114-111 awarded to Taylor by Ian John-Lewis under special supervision.
Taylor has said he will fight Catterall again but in a hot weight class or his new home is 147lbs. “It was definitely a worthwhile conversation but don’t forget I work for Jack so at the end of the day it will be Jack’s decision,” Moore said. Andi Purewal of Boxing Social.
“He wants to be the world champion in that weight class (140lbs). He’s been there throughout his career. He’s sure, for sure, there’s going to be a rematch at 147 though without a doubt.
“If Josh gives up the titles and advances then Jack will want to fight for them, all if possible but if not at least one of them. I’m pretty sure he’ll be ready to move up then and complete the rematch.
Then it became a bigger fight because Jack became the world champion right then and there and the rematch also got a little bigger and a little more delicious. “
