Health officials say anyone who’s been around someone with monkeypox doesn’t need to be quarantined – as long as they don’t have symptoms.
The new advice comes as the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says it has 100,000 more vaccines on hand as cases of monkeypox continue to rise.
As of July 18, there were 2,137 confirmed cases in the UK.
Of these, 2,050 are in the UK, with a large proportion of cases found in London.

Dr Merav Kliner, Deputy Incident Manager at UKHSA, said: “Although our advice on isolation is changing, monkeypox remains a serious public health challenge and we I urge contacts to halt all activities or events that involve skin-to-skin contact, including sex, hugging, and kissing to reduce the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus.
“Be alert for symptoms and call a sexual health clinic if you become unwell.
“Thank you to all contacts who have been isolated in response to this outbreak. We understand that quarantine can be difficult but this is a necessary precaution while to the best of our knowledge. on the outbreak is limited.”
