Moments before being brutally killed for their meat, more than 50 dogs were rescued from a truck that was transported to an illegal slaughterhouse in Sukoharjo, Indonesia.
The dilapidated dogs were tied up in sacks, tied with ropes or cables, and their eyes widened in fear.
Local police and rescue forces from the Dog Meat Free Indonesia (DMFI) alliance and the Humane Society of the United States worked together to save these poor dogs.

The dogs received emergency medical care and were then transported to a temporary shelter where they will continue to receive treatment and health care again.
Many dogs stolen as pets will be returned to their families, while the rest will be put up for adoption.
The man suspected of selling dog meat on the Indonesian island of Java has since been arrested.
He is said to be the center of the dog meat trade and has a history of being involved in it for more than 20 years. He also coordinates shipments of hundreds of dogs for slaughter each month, averaging 30 dogs per day.
“We have received many complaints about the activities of illegal dog meat traders,” said Tarjono Sapto Nugroho, Sukoharjo Police Criminal Investigation Division Chief. speak to Four Paws International in a statement. “People don’t want this trade or slaughter in their community.
