Mercedes-Benz is participating land fever with the launch of the all-electric Marco Polo1 EQT Concept. MB camper van concept may not be impressive off-road skills, But it is unique in its own right as one of the few tram camper truck we have seen. And, as if that wasn’t reason enough to cheer for the EQT Marco Polo1, the Mercedes-Benz tram is also making a point of its small size.

Marco Polo1 based on Mercedes-Benz T-Class, not sold in the United States. I’m sorry to remind you of that sad fact, but the current T-Class — available with a diesel engine and manual transmission — is likely not. when to the United States, that means the final production model of the Marco Polo1 will not arrive here too. Mercedes-Benz fully intend to make this concept a reality, saying that they plan to release something like it late next year:

“For us, the future is electric – regardless of the size or purpose of the truck. The latest proof of this strategic direction is our new EQT with all-electric powertrain. With the Marco Polo Module, we also have the first, simple solution for all-electric camping on offer in the near future. In the second half of 2023, we plan to expand our range even further with an all-electric and full-fledged micro camper. Concept EQT Marco Polo has teased the upcoming mass production car. As the name suggests, we are expanding our Marco Polo product line with both products, based on the EQT,” said Klaus Rehkugler, Sales Director, Mercedes-Benz Vans.

The production version of the EV scheduled to launch in Europe next year will not be available as a trim or EQT model, but as an add-on module for the Mercedes-Benz EQT. Dealers will install the Marco Polo Module in the EQT, which will be available early next year.

It’s unclear what the module will come with, but the Concept EQT Marco Polo1 features a pop-up roof with a bed approximately 2.5 m long by 3.2 m wide. There is a bit more sleeping space by folding the rear seats and rear seats. can be reconfigured during the day as a full living and cooking area. There is a small fridge, sink and stovetop. There’s even room to stand when the pop-up roof is open. There’s also a 3.2-gallon water tank in the rear.

The only caveat is that the Marco Polo1 concept EV is based on the longer wheelbase EQT model, which won’t be available initially. Electric minivans – like microvans – will be sold at first as a short-wheelbase model, but later in a long-wheelbase version.

The shorter EQT will be 177 inches long, 73 inches wide, and about 72 inches tall. It’s about the middle of the size of Ford Transit Connect cargo vehicle (short wheelbase) and Transit Connect passenger vehicle (long wheelbase).

In other words, the EQT will be a practical and reasonably sized vehicle with room for up to five adults and their cargo. The “reasonable” theme continues with the EQT’s range, which is rumored to be 175 miles per charge; and output will be around 120 hp and 197 lb-ft of torque. The Mercedes-Benz EQT will start at around $51,600 in Germany, tax included, but there’s no word yet on the pricing of the short-wheelbase Marco Polo Module.
