Mazda has confirmed it will add a hybrid version of its popular CX-50 crossover SUV to its 2025 lineup.
The hybrid version gets a redesigned front end, red leather interior and new wheels.
Mazda confirmed it has adopted Toyota’s hybrid system, combining a 2.5 liter inline-4 with a battery pack and three electric motors. This system, with its integrated hybrid transmission and all-wheel drive, produces a net output of 219 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque.
Mazda rates the CX-50 Hybrid’s fuel economy at 38 mpg combinedbefore official EPA confirmation. About 40 percent better than the gas-only CX-50 2.5 S version that currently leads the list.
Drive modes allow the CX-50 Hybrid to vary its response, from Trail mode for light off-road driving to Power mode. Mazda rates the hybrid crossover at just 1,500 pound towing capacity.
Base $35,390 CX-50 Hybrid Preferred gets 17-inch wheels, a 10.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker audio, wireless smartphone charging, heated front seats, and a power tailgate.
The $38,820 CX-50 Premium Hybrid This version is equipped with additional black roof rails, leather seats, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker Bose sound system and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability.
At the head of the formation, $41,470 CX-50 Hybrid Premium Plus Equipped with 19-inch wheels, 6-way power front passenger seat, cooled front seats and a head-up display.
Mazda says nothing about what the CX-50 PHEV will reflect Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid. It also promotes the idea that Long range electric cars are not the futureand instead consider electric vehicles with shorter ranges as a more efficient solution.
