UPDATE:

Mae has lived a happy life with her new family – but her humans have always known their time would be short. On January 9, 2020, Mae’s mother posted the following on Facebook:

“I’ve been dreading this since November 16 when I got the ‘it’s cancer’ phone call.” Mae told me today that she is very tired and that her mission and life purpose have been fulfilled.

“She shares her love of life and people with everyone she meets. She lives for her food and her new-found feline friends. She has a gentle way with her and her calm way shows every time she meets someone new.

I will miss her lovely face so much and I will do it all again if possible. Her nine weeks with all of us was something I never expected, but you all made it so wonderful for her and myself. She deserves it and loves every minute of it. She felt all the love, from near and far. ❤️

“Mae, until we meet again. Free running sweet girl, you are one in a million. “
