Mass production of iPhone 14, shipment schedule unaffected by geopolitics: Ming-Chi Kuo
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo confirmed that the iPhone 14 mass production and shipment schedule is not affected by the ongoing tension between China and Taiwan. He dismissed reports that Apple’s September launch event could be postponed due to delayed iPhone 14 shipments. The delay was anticipated after China reportedly began to strictly enforce the rule that Taiwanese-made parts must be labeled correctly. Apple assigns chip production to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd (TSMC), and China is the most important hub for iPhone shipments worldwide.
Kuo said his survey indicates that there is currently no impact on the supply chain of iPhone 14 models. Report proposed delay in Iphone shipment due to geopolitical tension between China and Taiwan The report has escalated after US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a congressional delegation visited Taiwan. TSMC do Apple chips and other parts come from Taiwan to China, which is an important hub for shipments worldwide.

It has been reported that under the age-old rule, Taiwan-made parts and components must be labeled made in “Taiwan, China” or “Chinese Taipei”. Reports suggest that any shipment with the phrase “Made in Taiwan” violates this rule and it could be held and inspected by Chinese customs. You can be fined up to CNY 4,000 (about Rs 47,000) if you break the rule. It is possible that the shipment is refused, causing delay in the shipment.
Recently, a report suggests that Apple has asked its suppliers to increase shipments of iPhone 14 models from 90 million to 95 million. The company’s major supplier Foxconn is said to have increased recruitment bonuses for iPhone workers as the supplier tries to keep up with demand for upcoming phone models.
Apple’s iPhone 14 series with four models — iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max — is report will officially go live sometime in September. Apple suffers from delivery delays due to component shortages due to the COVID-19 lockdown in China and most recently due to Ukraine-Russia tensions.
